The rate of entry of new drugs into the clinic has slowed alarmingly and new, more efficient discovery strategies are needed. Exciting opportunities can be realised by improving the use of in silico and in vitro techniques. This focused meeting has been organised by the British Pharmacological Society to bring together academic and industrial scientists and students aspiring to work in drug discovery to discuss novel approaches to developing new medicines.
