As we age, we all hope to enjoy a long and healthy life, but what can we do to make this a reality? Join us for an exciting event on the science of ageing and longevity research where our expert speaker will delve into the latest research in this field. Discover how the thing that makes us is also the thing that ends us, and why unintuitively, this may provide a realistic chance of an intervention.
ELRIG & Pint of Science - Birth and Death: The unlikely duo that unlocks the mystery of ageing

New and unexpected perspective on an age-old question
Dr Ken Raj (Principal Investigator, Altos Labs Cambridge Institute of Science)
Why we age, is arguably one of the oldest unanswered questions that spawned multiple hypotheses, all of which remain to be unequivocally proven. In recent years however, our understanding of ageing has been impacted by several seminal discoveries from different fields of biology and mathematics. Although the details of these discoveries have yet to be fully elucidated, the nature of their effects is already sufficiently radical and clear that it challenges the long-held intuitive perspectives of why and how we age. The notion that ageing may be mitigated, slowed, halted, or perhaps even reversed, is less fanciful than previously assumed.
