Early Career Professional Interactive Panel discussion: Careers in Drug Discovery: Networking with purpose

Are you a post-doc, postgraduate, early career researcher/ professional (ECP) scientist looking to develop and maintain your network?

Networking is the development, maintenance and leadership of networks of individuals who can offer advice and access to opportunities. In a research and academic context, networking happens for many purposes and in many ways. At different stages in your career, different aspects of networking will be more or less relevant to you, you will have different objectives, and will need to build different types of relationships. However, building and maintaining a wide professional network is intrinsically valuable; it may prove helpful in your current role, and may also lead to your next collaboration, role or change of career direction.

Key aims:

  • Listen to panellists as they discuss and share their experiences and personal stories
  • Increase your awareness of the different ways to network
  • Practical advice and support to develop and maintain your network
  • Build confidence

 Audience:

  • Early career professionals in academia and industry

Format:

Chair: Clare Viney (CRAC/Vitae)
Facilitator: Claire Kelly (Early Career Professional, ELRIG and Postgraduate Researcher, The University of Liverpool)
