ELRIG WEBINAR

Next generation biologics and
the future of cancer therapy

23 September 2020, 14:00 BST

Wednesday 23rd September 2020: 14:00 BST

Oncology is a challenging area to deliver effective therapies, Surgery is still the best treatment, however it has limitations and many situations render surgery impractical or dangerous, and often leave patients with impaired quality of life. Therefore there is still an unmet need to deliver effective chemotherapy that can address challenging tumours, and metastases.

Although some chemotherapies have been effective, resistance is developing and rendering them ineffective. This event will bring to light some new classes of biologics and a better understanding of mechanisms of resistance in the fight to save lives against cancer.

You will hear speakers from across academia, biotech and the pharma industry offering their unique insights.

Confirmed speakers

Dr Carol Trim (Canterbury Christ Church University)
‘Modulating cancer pathways with novel biotherapeutic tools from venom’

Professor Michelle Garrett (University of Kent at Canterbury)
‘Cancer therapeutics and drug resistance’

Chris Pickford (Avvinity Therapeutics)
‘Alphamers: Recruiting natural antibodies as a novel immunotherapeutics platform in oncology’

Simon Bennett (Miltenyi Biotec Ltd)
‘Workflows and instruments from Miltenyi Biotec which enable Advanced Cell Therapies for Cancer Treatment’
