PLEASE NOTE: We have limited capacity for posters on site and they will be accepted on a first come first served basis, When capacity is reached a holding list will be opened and you will be notified if spaces become available.
There are two deadlines – the first is to be considered for a flash poster presentation and the second is the latest date to submit your poster for the general display at the event.
To be considered for a flash presentation at Research & Innovation 2024, please submit your title and abstract by 19 February 2024. The deadline for other posters is 3 March 2024
The author will be held responsible for false statements, the scientific judging panel will ensure the poster is relevant to the event content. Successful poster applications will be notified via email and the poster display number will be given approximately two weeks before the event.
During the event:
A board will be available with your poster number and Velcro strips to affix your poster (your poster must be A0 portrait).
Poster sessions will take place for 30-minute in the networking session at the end of Day 1 and for 30 mins during the lunchbreak on Day 2. You will be expended to be at your poster during these times to answer questions from delegates.
A Poster Prize will be awarded for Best Early Career Professional Poster, the posters will be judged (you will not need to be at your poster during judging) and the prize awarded during the event.

All posters will need to be collected at the end of the event and removed from site; any posters left at the end of the event will be disposed of.
Flash Poster presentations:
This is an opportunity to showcase your poster in a Flash presentation to the ELRIG community, if your poster is chosen you will need to prepare a PowerPoint presentation and you will be given presentation timings. The scientific judging panel will review the posters submitted for Flash poster presentations and if successful you will receive confirmation from the ELRIG Team two weeks prior to the event.

Research & Innovation – Accelerating Future Drug Discovery
This event will discuss how emerging biology and cutting-edge technologies are pioneering the medicines of tomorrow. Bringing together scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs with bold ideas to serve our shared ambitions in creating the next generation of therapeutics to cure more patients around the world. The 2024 R&I meeting – based in Manchester – will comprise the following four main sessions.
Track 1 – Animal-free drug discovery. Emma Shepherd (Aston University) & Mike Morton (Apconix)
There has been a major shift away from animal use which has been catapulted by recent legislation stating that the FDA will consider approval of new medicines without animal data. This session will showcase some of the latest innovations and applications of animal-free technologies including world leading experts who will share their insights and experiences on the challenges and opportunities of animal-free drug discovery and development.
Track 2 – Oncology: thinking the unthinkable and drugging the undruggable. Liz Anderson (CRL) & Susan Critchlow (AstraZeneca)
Cancer is the second-leading cause of death worldwide with 1 in 2 of us getting a cancer diagnosis at some point, however as we understand more about the underlying causes of different cancer types through continued research, survival rates continue to improve. This session will explore recent innovations in oncology therapeutic approaches from immuno-oncology and CAR-X approaches, to cancer epigenetics and targeting of therapeutics direct to tumours.
Track 3 – New horizons in tackling antimicrobial resistance. Bev Isherwood (MDC) & Lisa Dawson (Charles River Laboratories)
AMR is one of the biggest health challenges we face as a global society, and it is currently developing faster than the speed of our scientific discoveries. There is an urgent need to grow a pipeline of high-quality antimicrobial drugs and diagnostics if we are going to address AMR and protect lives worldwide. Antimicrobial Therapies are undergoing a transformation. Similar to that which occurred with the treatment of cancer where innovation has led to both ‘one for all’ chemotherapies and treatments that target specific oncogenic pathways, pathogen and/or indication specific approaches to tackle multi-drug resistant infections are being considered. This transformation is being enabled by a new wave of innovation in medicines and diagnostics discovery. This session will explore the opportunities and challenges.
Track 4 – Mass spectrometry and proteomics. Zack Gurard-Levin (Charles River Laboratories) & Marcus Bantscheff (GSK)
Mass spectrometry (MS) continues to gain momentum as a powerful tool in drug discovery and development, allowing the direct and hypothesis free analysis of the molecular constituents of cells and body fluids. Mass spectrometric measurements provide valuable insights for defining disease states, target discovery and validation, target engagement and mechanisms of bioactive molecules and drug safety. This session will highlight recent advances in mass spectrometry techniques and their applications in drug discovery, including native MS, affinity selection mass spectrometry (ASMS), and chemoproteomics. Learn from experts on how MS can inform on small molecule-target interactions, elucidation of protein structures, and the impact of drugs on cellular pathways.
Roger Clark – Charles River Labs
Sarah Brockbank – MDC

ELRIG encourages exhibitors to purchase talk time within the main podium programme to maximise their presence at a meeting, but you may only purchase talk time if you have purchased a booth. The different talks available are:
Technology Spotlight Partner: The most cost-effective way to drive traffic to your booth is by adding a 5-minute
Technology Spotlight presentation. This podium presentation is part of the published programme and takes place
before the entire conference audience. Technology Spotlight presentations focus on a specific product or service.
Industry Insider Partner: This package includes a 15-minute podium presentation within the main programme and is
designed to position you as an industry influencer. The presentation’s length will allow you to introduce your company,
describe a specific offering and present a single case study to reinforce your message. It is required that the talk topic
be relevant to the main theme of the programme.
Conference Partner: This provides an opportunity for you to present your latest news, technology, or product update to
the entire audience at an ELRIG event. The presentation length is equivalent to an invited podium presentation, therefore
it is essential that the content be aligned to the track theme, explaining the need and science behind the innovation whilst
not being overtly commercial. The presentation may end with a pointer towards product availability and the vendor’s
Exhibitor staff Tickets
Each booth comes with 2 exhibitor staff tickets. These allow access to the talks.
Additional tickets will be charged at £50 per ticket for the duration of the conference.
