Research & Innovation 2017 Conference directors Mark Wigglesworth & Mike Kerins

ELRIG’s Research & Innovation 2017 meeting, held at its new location, Homerton College in Cambridge on 29th and 30th March was a huge success with 422 attendees – our highest attendance numbers for this event yet! Over the 2 days, the four tracks covered were Immuno-oncology, Single cell analysis (including transcriptomics, NGS, micro-fluidics), Immunotherapy and Physiologically relevant 3D models & scale-up.

Plenary keynote presentations by Ian Tomlinson of Apollo Therapeutics and Richard Eglen of Corning Life Sciences along with the speaker programme, gave delegates the opportunity to hear about the challenges and opportunities for cells as models of disease & new therapeutics from leading experts from industry and academia. With 29 exhibitors and 33 posters displayed, the meeting had a real buzz and the wine tasting event which formed part of the networking and drinks reception, proved to be very popular. This year’s technology award, as voted for by delegates went to InSphero for their 3D Insight Microtissues & Services, and the poster prize was awarded to Dr Gopi Shah for her poster entitled, “Light sheet microscopy in cancer research: Imaging the dynamics of physiologically relevant 3D models.”

With many thanks to all the exhibitors, session chairs, speakers and delegates who came along to make the event so enjoyable. We look forward to seeing you at one of our other events during 2017:

Advances in Cell- Based Screening 2017, 10th – 11th May 2017, AstraZeneca, Gothenburg, Sweden
