To keep you all safe, We are taking a number of actions to keep you safe so you can focus on learning about the latest research and innovations in the field of drug discovery and reconnect with colleagues These measures include:

  • Limiting numbers – registration prior to the event is required so we can monitor numbers and avoid crowds.
  • COVID pass – all attendees will need to provide a COVID pass to confirm they are double-vaccinated or have tested negative in the last 72 hours.
  • COVID-safe venue – larger gangways, air-handling pumps, hand sanitising stations and frequent cleaning, plus other measures are being implemented.
  • Social distancing – every room will have the option of social distancing for those who would prefer to keep 1-2 m apart, including designated distanced seating in lecture theatres.
  • Contact comfort levels – colour-coded lanyards will show what level of contact you are comfortable with, from distancing, to shaking hands.
  • Cashless venue – lunch and refreshments are provided, but if you do wish to purchase anything from the ACC, all shops are now cashless to minimise contact.

Hear directly from ELRIG’s Lifetime Achievement Award winner Steve Rees OBE, Vice President, Drug Discovery, R&D at AstraZeneca. During Steve’s presentation “A career in drug discovery”, he will look at the changes that have occurred in the industry throughout his career so far and explore how he and his team mobilised to become a pivotal component of the UK’s COVID efforts. The purpose of the Lifetime Achievement Award is to recognise individuals who have made a significant contribution to the life sciences that has had a positive impact on the industry and/or global community.

Also at Drug Discovery 2021 is Laura Ajram, Psychiatry Consortium Programme Manager at Medicines Discovery Catapult (MDC) and ELRIG Early Career Impact Award winner. Laura will present her work in the inception and management of MDC’s Psychiatry Consortium; a pioneering collaboration between medical charities, pharma and healthcare organisations focusing on novel drug discovery in mental health. Laura also leads the Consortium’s cutting-edge project that is investigating a new drug target for the treatment of schizophrenia and has generated significant data so far.
